Here’s a neat solution for unlocking a number of Nokia phones which doesn’t require any software-based hacking. Rather, similar to iPhone unlocking solution - TurboSIM, the No-key Nokia X-SIM uses (actually it is) a special SIM card that unlocks the phone to work on any network.
The working theory of the X-SIM is that each phone operates on an identification system. The mobile phone checks if the SIM card matches the operator and if so, it opens. The X-SIM card gives a signal to the Nokia mobile phone simulating the original SIM card, so phone never really unlocks - it just allows the user to operate in any network. It can still maintain the original warranty and can also install any of the latest firmware from Nokia without problems. So, there is no risk unlocking and no risk of doing any harm to the phone.
According to SourcingMan.com which sells the SIM card, the X-SIM has been tested on a number of Nokia phones, including such models as E65, N73, N95, N95 8GB, 6500, and others. However, they are warning the No-key Nokia X-SIM may not work on all operator’s networks in the world. Still, their solution costs $15 and if it works, you’ll save much more in the next 6 months by using some other network’s voice plan.
